USPTO issues two significant patents to BRI in robotic knee arthroplasty surgery

Bonutti Research Inc. (BRI) is pleased to announce the recent issuance, by the US Patent Office (USPTO), of two significant patents to BRI in robotic knee arthroplasty surgery (U.S. 9,629,687 and U.S. 9,585,725).   The patents focus on technology related to robotic unicompartmental arthroplasty, bicompartmental arthroplasty, total knee arthroplasty, as well as robotic arthroplasty implantation linking robotic systems and computer navigation.   These two patents strengthen an existing family of 14 patents that are considered the seminal patents in robotics, knee arthroplasty, and computer navigation

 

BRI, founded by Peter Bonutti, MD in 1989, currently has over 550 patents and patent applications, licensed over 300 patents in the medical field including technologies involving diagnostics, MRI, minimal invasive access, balloon dissection, and suture anchors that include knotless deformable suture anchors.  These patents have resulted in 730 license agreements with 25 major medical device companies to date.
